Hi! Thanks for stopping by.
I am a full-time, freelance Illustrator specializing in Fantasy character and Concept art. My work ranges from bright to dramatic because I enjoy using various emotions to portray the world and capture the essence of the piece.
I learnt Fine Art during High School and then went on to study 3D Animation at college (2013 - 2015). I began digital art during that time.
From then, I built up my experience until getting my first commission in 2017. While working full-time, I continued taking multiple commissions a year which I worked on in my spare time. I wished I could commit every day to my craft, so in mid 2023 the opportunity arose when I was retrenched and I decided to take the plunge into becoming a full-time freelancer.
I bring my knowledge and creative skills to achieve the best representation of the client's project to life through consistent communication and brainstorming. Often times this will lead to developing their ideas and world further, through design and visual storytelling.
I am incredibly passionate about human creativity and the impact that art can have on us. I strive to motivate community growth and support, as well as focusing on mental health awareness in fellow creatives.

General workflow:
* - Client communication
Concepting Phase
• Studying the project brief*
• Brainstorming, reference sharing and concept sketches
• Further developing the initial impression of the piece
Render Phase
• Rendering out individual areas to a good spot
• Final paint over to push the good to even better
Finalizing
• Processing, extra value and color correctionsConcepting Phase
Reading the brief thoroughly*, noting down important aspects and any ideas I'd want to explore further.
During this phase I would focus on understanding the mood/character/world of the piece as best as possible, so that I can visually translate that into the intended use of the piece.
I often ask for and find additional inspirational material such as a song that further helps me understand the mood.
During brainstorming* I explore compositions through physical sketches and digital rough sketches to visualize values, lighting and important aspects. Depending on the scope I usually do 1 - 4 composition sketches as well as possibly multiple 'extra' sketches of the character to better grasp the project. *This phase heavily involves the client as it's important to be on the same page through this exploration.Render Phase:
Once we have a direction, I start iterating into the image. I bring any physical images into my digital program of choice, currently Krita, and render lighting, values and color to bring the piece to a much cleaner concept to explore*.
I love visual story telling, and during this phase look for any opportunities to ask 'Why?' further than composition decisions. 'Why this flower?' 'Why this armor/color?'
I continue checking in as I iterate, keeping the client involved in the creative process so that we can create as best of the vision as possible.Finalizing
Full steam ahead involves pushing that approved image as far as it can go. Improving material rendering, colors. This involves final value, lighting corrections, clean-up, and noise/particles.

Brainstorming and basic concepting for review:
After reading the brief, quick and small concepts are just thrown out to get a trajectory. Main focus is mood and lighting for this project.

Reference and Inspiration:
Some of the visual inspiration from the reference folder. Artwork by Anato Finnstark, Artyom Trakhanov and Mitchell Mohrhauser.
As well as a snippet of a playlist the client and I added to.

Concept Phase 2:
The client chose Option B and some aspects of other Options. I put them all together, while continuously communicating ideas and getting feedback. For this process we heavily brainstormed the 'feel' of his gait as an imposing foe.

Rendering:
From there, I continue adding the details and rendering the materials accordingly. Continuously checking in until the Finalizing process.(This was a piece finished mid 2024, I've continue refining my process and have added physical sketches as a way to brainstorm too - utilizing my comfort with a pencil to quickly sketch ideas out.)
